By the mid-1970s, printed pinstripes began supplanting the sewn-in variety. This wide zigzag pinstripe was used by the Mets on several different styles of uniforms from the 1970s to the 1990s, most notably the version with wide blue and orange stripes on the shoulders (pictured above). This version was also worn as a throwback jersey in 2002 to celebrate the Mets’ 40th anniversary and in 2006 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the 1986 championship season.
